Meet the Cavaliers

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small breed of spaniel classed in the toy group with the American Kennel Club Association. Since 2000, it has grown in popularity in the United States and ranks as the 18th most popular pure-breed in the United States. AKC Breed Standard states they should be between 12-13 inches in height and Weigh between 13-18 pounds. There life expectancy is between 12-15 years.

These Spaniel’s have a silky, smooth coat that should not be cut if you plan to show this breed. This coat will continue to grow longer as they age. There tail is commonly smooth and undocked. They use it like a rudder when swimming and yes they love water. The breed standard recognizes four colors: Blenheim (chestnut and white), tricolor (black/white/tan), black and tan, and ruby. The breed is generally friendly, affectionate and good with both children and other animals; however, they require much human interaction. Since they are family dogs, it is recommended to not leave one alone for long periods at a time.

If you are intrigued and are thinking of adding this breed to your family, then here are a few links to learn more.
